Poi Artists

Every trail tells a story. Every motion writes light into the night

Poi artists, your movements are more than performance,  they are living art. With every spin, you paint the air with radiant colors, shaping words, images, and visions of light. Whether with flowing trails, digital logos, or glowing words, your poi can awaken wonder and transform the night sky. Step into Celestia and let your light speak through motion, rhythm, and fire.

Once you learn how to move and spin them, you will be able to do this.

And This

But first, you must learn

Celestia Practice Poi Training Guide

Preparing for Ignis 256 HD Poi

Why Practice Poi?

The Ignis 256 HD poi are world-class instruments of light, but they’re also expensive and delicate. Before stepping into the spotlight, every performer should master the movements with practice poi that replicate the real thing.

We will supply you with the poi sticks to use during the festival.  We use the Ignis 256 HD Poi: The World’s Most Advanced High-Resolution Pixel Poi. These are very expensive, and they are difficult to replace quickly. This is why you must prove to us, through video, that you know what you’re doing and how to spin them in a safe manner for your safety and for the safety of our audience. We will take care of all the programming, battery recharging and care for the poi. All you have to do is know how to spin them in safe and creative ways.

We understand that this is somewhat new to most people who may not be familiar with this particular visual art.

We suggest for you to make practice poi.

Watch and rehearse with practice poi videos on you tube.

Learn three to five different spins.

Make your 30 to 45 second video and send it in.

If your light shines bright, we will be in touch. For now, there are only 5 spots for poi artists per night.

Hours of engagement for poi artists are dusk to 10PM each night.

The batteries last an average of 1.4 hours. We will have more pinpointed times as we apply this art to real world applications.

Depending on the time it takes to recharge the poi between performances, that would be your approximant time to take a break.

Plan on several hour long, performances during your designated night. So please practice accordingly to build endurance and muscle memory.

Let’s build your practice poi!!

Build Your Own Practice Poi

First Steps (Beginner Drills)

Circles: Spin each poi in front of your body in smooth circles. Practice forward and backward.

Butterfly: Spin both poi toward each other in front of your chest.

Weave (2-Beat & 3-Beat): Figure-eight patterns crossing in front of your body.

Reels: Spin poi in circles beside each hip, alternating directions.

Fountains: Move from forward circles → side circles → overhead.

Tip: Practice same-time (both spinning together) and split-time (alternating) to build rhythm.

Advancing Toward Ignis Poi

  • Add speed gradually to build control.

  • Keep poi planes clean (parallel circles).

  • Once movements are smooth, transition to LED practice poi (cheaper glow models) before the full Ignis 256 HD.

  • With Ignis: focus on timing text, logos, and images with precision.

Celestia Performance Reminder

Your poi aren’t just props — they’re a language of light.
Every spin tells a story. Every trail carries meaning.
Train with focus, perform with spirit, and let your inner light radiate.

 “Rise. Rejoice. Radiate.”
